APPENDIX E TO HISTORICAL RECORD
1 AIR DIVISION HQ
For the period 1 Jan 65 to 31 Dec 65

INTELLIGENCE

Introduction

The most significant facet of the operational of SOCT&I during 1965 was the reduction of the staff by approximately 50%. This was implemented to reflect the decreasing operational control function of the Air Div HQ to coincide with the strike, attack and reconnaissance roles of the Wings. Moreover, because of the physical separation of SOCT&I from the remainder of the Air Div HQ, and in an attempt to provide SOCT&I staff with a sense of belonging, certain administrative functions previously carried out within ADHQ proper have been delegated to the SOCT&I operations staff.

Command

For the first half of the period, W/C JH Phillips held the position of SOCT&I. Subsequent to his transfer, W/C PJ Roy was appointed SOCT&I.

Organization

The reduction in staff necessitated a vast re-organization of functions within SOCT&I. The long-planned new organization was to finally come into effect 1 Jan 66 and is attached at Annex A to this report.
