Auxiliary Support.

Auxiliary weekend training was carried out with the following squadrons:

400 (Aux) Fighter Squadron
411 (Aux) Fighter Squadron
2400 (Aux) AC&W Squadron

Courses - Cross Training - Ground Training

One officer attended Controllers Proficiency Course, three officers, three NCOs and six airmen received cross-training with the adjacent American Squadrons, thirteen officers attended High Altitude Indoctrination Course. In April 43 FtrCops wrote Group 3 trade examination, 42 passed (98%). 48 wrote Group 2, 38 passed (81%) During this period, three officers, three NCOs and six airmen from adjacent American Squadrons received cross training at this unit.

SAC Overflys - A total of 110 Overflys took place during this period with intercept action occurring against the majority of these Overflys. File S55-03-05.

Caveman C2 - 8 Jan 57; Caveman C3 - 29 Jan 57; Caveman D2 - 27 Feb 57; Caveman D-2 R1 - Column Attack - 26 Mar 57; Caveman Ten Multiple Penetration Wave Attack - 7 May 57.

Overhaul of AN/FPS-6 by CGE. This was the first overhaul carried out on this equipment since the installation. It was more of a familiarization for the contractor with regard to overhaul procedures.

Overhaul of AN/FPS-3. Annual overhaul of the FPS-3 installation. Unit was off the air from 11 Feb to 16 Feb 57 inclusive.

F/O CJ Robertson, Senior Accountant Officer was released from the RCAF and replaced by F/L JB Kearns, former Senior Accountant Officer #1 Group Headquarters (Aux) Montreal.

Comm Equipment Overhaul. The Northern Electric carried out the first overhaul on the Communications equipment at this site.

V-3 Amplifiers. The monitor function on the Controller’s consoles had been modified to eliminate monitor on all consoles of a particular channel. The V-3 Amplifiers were installed on the lines to the transmitters which increased the audio levels considerably.

STelO Position - F/L R Dunn, Communications Officer, posted to Keesler AFB on ECM course. F/L AS Atkinson, Radar Officer, assumed duties of STelO, which combined the duties of Radar and Communications Officers.

New ME Workshop building accepted by RCAF; METech personnel commenced duties in new building.

12966 F/L A Harvey assumes temporary Command of RCAF Station Edgar during the absence of 249 W/C H Bryant. 39376 F/O JJ Connolly assumed duties of Assistant CAdO.

Admin Building Telephone Installation. The new Administration Building was wired and telephones installed by Unit telephone technicians. Suitable intercom systems were also installed at this time by Comm Techs.

36912 F/L RJ Cutting assumed the duties of COpsO vice 12966 F/L A Harvey.

Overhaul of AN/TPS-501. Annual overhaul of TPS-501 installations and 15J1D equipment. Unit was advised prior to overhaul that TPS-501, Serial No. 13 would be removed. However, overhaul on this equipment was also carried out.
