A New Years Levee was held at the Officers Mess with local dignitaries in attendance.

Jan 83

Interior painting of the Barrack blocks was carried out at a cost of $24,552.00.

24 Feb 83

Brigadier General GD Simpson, Commander of Canadian Forces Communication Commant along with Lieutenant Colonel DJ Meeds Commandant 70 Communications Group visits Lowther.

25 Feb 83

Brigadier General WD Stewart, Deputy Commander 21st NORAD Region Headquarters visits Lowther.

Mar 83

A project to replace carpeting and porches in Mobile Home Married Quarters was undertaken at a cost of $29,640.00.

22 Apr 83

Brigadier General I Alleslev, Air Command Chief of Staff Military Engineers and Lieutenant Colonel JC Beacham Staff Officer Works visits Lowther to inspect Station facilities.

28 May 83

An Officer’s Mess Dinner was held to say goodbye to all the outgoing officers.

3 Jun 83

A Commanding Officers Parade was held.

July 83

A project to insulate the attics of various buildings was undertaken at a cost of $29,400.00. An extension to the station Water Plant was built at a cost of $30,000.00.

26 Aug 83

A Commanding Officer’s parade was held.

Aug 83

A project to construct a new road to the trailer parks was undertaken at a cost of $26,720.00.

Sep 83

An extension to the station Social Centre was started at an estimated cost of $40,000.

30 Sep 1 and 2 Oct 83

Brigadier General RB Button (Retired) Former Commander, Canadian Forces Training Systems visits Lowther on the occasion of La KA des KK du K du K. This is an annual competition between the officers of Senneterre, Mont Apica, Chibougamau, Lac St. Denis, Moisie and Lowther. Thirty-eight officers from all the above sites participated except Moisie, who couldn’t make it to the 1983 competition. This year marks the first time that the competition was won by a radar site outside of Quebec.

An outdoor arena was built at a cost of $8,490.00.

9 Nov 83

A Station Parade was held to honor the visit of Major General Paisley, Commander Fighter Group. That evening the Junior Ranks mess hosted a Mess Dinner for Major General Paisley.

11 Nov 83

One flight of 32 personnel participated in a Remembrance Day parade in the city of Kapuskasing.

16 Nov 83

Lieutenant Colonel WJ Fairlie, Assistant Air Command Chaplain visited Lowther.

30 Nov 83

Chief Warrant Officer PE Delaney Cur Command Chief Warrant Officer visited CFS Lowther.

16 Dec 83

The Annual Christmas Luncheon for all station personnel was held in the Combined Mess.

Dec 83

One of the three transformers of the power sub-station for the search radar failed. It was replaced at a cost of $32,969.00. Renovations to the Supply section were started at an estimated cost of $38,500.00
