Cleaver Brooks waste heat recovery boilers - 30 August 2002.
Dana was one of five sites that was equipped with Orenda OTC-5 turbines. The only diesel in the plant was a small V-8 Petter that had the illustrious function of providing power for the electric starting motor of the turbine (one only) in the event of a total loss of power.

The large open vent you see at the top of the boiler is where the "Elephant Trunk", better known as the tail pipe of the turbine, connected to the boiler. Hence, waste heat recovery! The plant consisted of four boilers, four turbines and the poor lowly Petter. Sites that had the OTC-5 were: Gypsumville, Yorkton, Dana, Alsask and Penhold.
