CFS Dana was identified as one of the Pinetree Line radar stations which was to close in 1987. As can be expected, plans were developed to allow for an effective closure of this station. One of the early changes was the closure of the Officers Mess in June 1986. The Officers were expected to share facilities with the WO's amd Sgts. Mess. As a result of this decision, the members of the WO's and Sgts. Mess decided to "Lay the Mess to Rest". The WO's and Sgts. Mess was officially buried on 26 June 1986. The following photos depict what occurred on that "mornful day".
