1998 - A Visit to Beaverbank – Barbara Barrett

Greetings from Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia. Yes - you read it correctly. In the "good old days" the community was known as "Beaverbank" but today, the community is known as "Beaver Bank".

I first communicated with Ren L’Ecuyer of the Pinetree Line web site on 21 March, 1998. He had obtained my e-mail address through the Internet and decided to contact me in the hopes of obtaining some detail on the radar station which was located in Beaverbank between 1954 and 1964. Ongoing communication continued via the Internet. I had offered my assistance to the Pinetree Line web site and it was just a matter of time before Ren requested consideration for a visit to the site of the original radar station to take some photos of the remains.

So, in April 1998, I proceeded to the original domestic site to check out the remains of the Beaverbank radar station. Most of the original buildings within the domestic site still exist and the complex is now being used as a Nursing Home. The following photographs depict the situation as it exists today.
