Bayrupert from Montreal to Port Burwell

On board ship. Life-boats visible. Many people are standing, scattered along the deck. At least one is a Mountie in full dress uniform, by himself, leaning on a railing. This is the beginning of the series of leave-taking shots from Montreal. On the back in ink: Bay Rupert - July 1926.

This trip was the maiden voyage of the Bayrupert (North to Adventure, p.39). Two years later, on the trip bringing the annual supplies and mail to Port Burwell, the "Bay Rupert" ran aground off the Labrador coast and was reported a total loss. (p.234)

Pinetree Line web site note: Hudson's Bay Archives indicate that the Bayrupert ran aground in July 1927, as opposed to the reference to 1928 in Monty's book.
