Courtesy of Hazel Montague Monty and a native woman (Ee-ma?) kneeling with a dog. Close up. The dog might be Peveril. He is more of a solid black and short haired. Hazel wonders if he does not have too much white on his front to be Peveril. However, the young woman with Monty may have been one of their housekeepers. She was the most freequently photographed (N19, N20, N21 and background in N16, N17, N18 and also S7). And Peveril was a house dog, in the house where Monty and Big Nick lived. The young woman was also a part of the local council, so a woman with some authority. She looks animated in the photos. Peveril was originally one of a brood of eight born on a ship called "Peveril". He was the only one who survived and was adopted by Monty and Nick. Monty later took him back to Montreal, and then to the farm that he and Hazel had for a year near Regina. When the Montagues went back east, Peveril was given to a local Mountie Detachment.
