Courtesy of Hazel Montague Upper body picture of a white woman in a parka. One southern woman who had been in the area was a nurse/wife of one of the officers at a different station. She had gone out to stop a dog fight and had been attacked by the dogs. Help was given by a neighbouring mission and its doctor/clergy. Her leg had been so badly damaged that he had to amputate. She was removed from the north but died two years later. That indicent was part of the reason that Hazel was not allowed to go north as Monty's wife. Hazel married Monty after his three year tour of duty at Port Burwell was over.
