27 Feb 53

Mr. R Haire, representative of Trailer's Ltd., London, visited the unit, toured the unit trailer camp, and discussed problems associated with trailers.

1 Apr 53

G/C ME Pollard, Station Commander, departed by air for ten days leave in England at the conclusion of which he will return with his family and establish residence on the Unit Trailer Site.

15 Apr 53

G/C ME Pollard returned by air from England on completion of annual leave together with family and took up residence in the Unit Trailer Camp.

19 May 53

Mr. JE Haire of a London caravan company departed after a three day visit to Air Division and Wings in its command. Mr. Haire is co-ordinating caravan problems for personnel at Air Division and various Wings in existence.

5 Aug 53

Mr. J Richardson of British Caravan Services visited the unit and discussed caravan problems and the moving of caravans to 3 (F) Wing with F/O D McLean. A meeting of the local Caravan Committee together with caravan inhabitants was held.

2 Oct 53

Four additional caravans arrived on the unit and were allocated to those on the waiting list.

23 Oct 53

Mr. JE Haire of Caravan Services Ltd., London, with two technicians reported in on an inspection and maintenance visit of the caravans on the unit belonging to his firm. At the present time approximately 15 units are at 2 or 3 Wing. Consolidation of the entire lot at 2 Wing should be within ten days.

18 Jan 54

421 Squadron flew 22 sorties for 19 hours and 25 minutes today. Squadron now operating from its dispersal area with maintenance and administrative personnel remaining in the hangar. - 2 Wing web site comment: Is this to imply that the trailers/caravans which were initially located on cement pads within the 421 Squadron dispersal area have now been moved to the location of what was to become the Station Trailer Park - located by the water tower?

Mr. J Haire of Caravan Services Ltd., London, England, visited the unit and conferred with the CO and F/O D McLean, Chairman of Unit Caravan Committee.

31 Jan 54

Clear, cold and high winds continue. Snowfall excessive but snow removal equipment has cleared the roads to permit ME movements. Trailer residents are allowing water to run in their private accommodation with the result that the water level is below average and a critical heating problem has evolved. Insufficient water available for heating service buildings and hangars.

During cold period all water systems in trailer sites were frozen and residents forced to carry water from Service buildings.

28 Apr 54

Mr. Haire of Barclay Caravan Services arrived from England accompanied by Mr. Messenger.

6 May 54

Mr. Haire, Caravan Services, London, arrived on a visit.

Mr. Haire departed 1100 hours.

Two civilian representatives of USAFE in Wiesbaden visited the CAdO and discussed our unit caravan organization.

Mr. J Haire, Director of Caravan Services Ltd., London, visited the unit, inspected his company's caravan units, conferred with Chairman of Unit Caravan Committee, F/O DJ MacLean and later departed.

10 Sep 54

Colonels Schultz and MacMillan of the US Army visited the unit and toured the unit caravan site, they were accompanied by four Majors.

25 Dec 54

In the evening the trailer camp bore the brunt of the festivities as most of the single men were invited out for Christmas dinner.
