Much disturbance was caused in the initiating of the new five day week with working hours commencing at 0800 hours and terminating at 1700 hours. The big problem was the adjusting of kitchen help to the early morning breakfast commencing 0700 hours.

The Cpls. Mess held a very successful dance-party in the Airmen's Mess.

Fifty officers and senior NCOs proceeded to the Airmen's Mess for the traditional Christmas dinner. About seven hundred airmen and airwomen were served in one sitting. A gift of beer and cigarettes from home was given out to the boys and girls.

The Officers gathered at the Sgts. Mess at 1100 hours for refreshments, then led by CO and PMC Sgts. Mess, complete with garbage can drums, proceeded at 1200 hours to the Airmen's Mess to serve turkey dinner. The dinner was excellent. Christmas menus graced the table, free cigarettes were put out for all, and all the airmen and airwomen were a credit to the service in their behaviour. A chorus of Officers and NCOs sang carols at the conclusion of the meal to the delight of everyone. This Christmas was enjoyed by everyone even though there was no snow.

The first Sports Banquet for the fall and winter sports champions was held in the Airmen's Mess, put on by the Station Sports Committee and it turned out to be a tremendous success.

All aircraftmen attended a dining-in night in the Airmen's Mess on the occasion of the re-opening of the Airmen's Club. Cocktails were served at 1800 hours in the Airmen's club. F/L Kerr was introduced as the new Honorary PMC of the Airmen's club replacing F/L Sayers.

The bi-annual 2 Wing Sports Banquet was held in the Airmen's Mess, sponsored by the Wing Sports Committee, and the evening was high-lighted by the talk given by Dr. Dudley S DeGroot, one of the United States most prominent men in the field of Physical Education and Recreation, and who is now attached to the US Army in Nuremburg in an advisory capacity. After his talk, the season awards were presented and the bi-Annual Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year Awards were presented to Sgt. Jerry Messier and LAW Scotty MacGregor.

The Fall and Winter Sports banquet was held in the Airmen's Mess. The Acting CO presented the awards to the various teams and competitors who were winners over the season. The Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Season awards went to Cpl. ED Smith and LAW M Adamson.
