The author of this composition was LAC "Jerry" Burtt. Jerry was 19 years of age when he wrote "The GT Blues". He was an Armament Systems Tech with 430 Squadron and presently resides in Courtenay, BC. I believe you have some pictures of him in the 430 Squadron area. At the 1997 reunion in Winnipeg, one of the Committee members had a very large - probably 4 feet in height - copy of this poem on the wall, and page size duplicates for anyone that wanted a copy. They went like "hot cakes" and many were surprised and pleased that the name of the author was displayed. Gerry was-is a real character and fine person, who after leaving the RCAF became a very successful real estate agent on Vancouver Island, BC.
