Significant Events

430 Squadron History

430 Squadron reformed at North Bay in November 1951. 430 (F) Squadron, equipped with Canadair (North American) F-86 Sabre aircraft then proceeded overseas on Operation "Leapfrog II" between 28 September 1952 and 10 October 1952 arriving at 2 (F) Wing Grostenquin on 11 October 1952. 430 Interceptor Day Fighter (IDF) Squadron at 2 Wing Grostenquin disbanded on 1 June 1963, and 25 Sabre aircraft were ferried to Scottish Aviation Ltd at Prestwick for disposal. The Squadron was reactivated as 430 Strike/Attack Squadron with a limited number of Canadair (Lockheed) CF-104 Starfighter aircraft and pilots on 30 September 1963. The squadron moved from 2 Wing to 3 Wing Zweibrucken in February 1964.
