G/C Burgess arrived today. A bad day. CO’s parade. The runway developed its summer fever which left it severely packed in quite a few places. Aside from a bit of conventional flying, only four Sabres took off for a total of 5:00 and 20 mins. E&E commences today. Most of our offerings came from 430 Squadron.

19 Jun 58

The runway is repaired but most of the morning was taken up sweeping the stones off. Flying got into full swing about 1030 hours local. We hear that several of our boys have been caught on the Creep and Crawl.

With the runway wet and slippery, this is too much for the Sabres and T-33s, so the runway is closed to them. Alternates are marginal or less. The promotion list came through and it proved to be very good. Called for some celebration in the form of parties this night. Nil flying.
