Most of the RCAF personnel who served at Grostenquin managed to bring back a souvenir mug or a souvenir ashtray when they returned to Canada. Of interest on the 421 Squadron mug is the French coat-of-arms on the side. This was the arms used by the Vichy government in France during WW2. This upset a lot of French nationals working at the base. The mugs had been made in Munich for all squadron personnel and inscribed with their names. I lost mine in Grostenquin on my last night there. I believe I gave it to a WD, however such is youth. This one was made for my father and has somehow survived though the years.
