SECURITY
The main highlight of the month was the disposal of a criminal case which had occurred on 14 Dec 53 when six Co-axial cables were found to have been severed at the Wireless Receiving Transmitter site. This was at first thought to be a case of suspected sabotage and Senior Officers of the Leicestershire and Rutlandshire Constabulary were called in to assist the WSecO. After three days of intensive investigation it was found that the damage had been caused by a 19-year old local youth who had recently been released on license from a juvenile Mental Institution. The damage was repaired the following day and the youth sent for trial at the next assizes. No question of sabotage was therefore involved. On 28 Jan 54 the youth pleaded guilty at the Leicester assizes and was sentenced by Mr. Justice Stable to have his license revoked and to be sent back to the Mental Institute to which he had been previously committed.
