The following are excerpts from two German newspapers on Fasching celebrations in which our Station Pipe and Drum Band participated. - Badische Neueste Nachrichten, 19 Feb 58 - "An attraction itself this year were many musical groups. Every fire department band and music club were out in costumes, endeavouring to give Karlsruhe's procession a little acoustical background. Let's hope that the other bands will not take offence if we give the military bands special praise. The 33rd US Army band, which appeared in uniform, got special applauds; the orchestra of the local Bundeswehr unit also came in seasonal costumes and enjoyed a big ovation; however the star attraction was the Canadian Air Force Bag Pipe Band, which came in the traditional kilts and bearskin hats, taking the hearts of the spectators by storm".
Badische Volkszeitung, 19 Feb 58 - "One hardly knows where to begin to tell about the Fasching Procession. Perhaps as good a start as any would be the Canadian Bag Pipe Band from France, who despite the fact that they were not dressed Fasching-like but wearing their most precious uniforms, drew the most applause".
